Laura Wehmer-Callahan

Laura Wehmer-Callahan is assistant dean of curriculum & faculty development. She is also an applied linguist specializing in how communication is used within academic and professional environments. Before joining Lindenwood University as an instructor in 2011, she taught adult education and literacy courses through MO DESE, and taught language and citizenship courses at the St. Louis International Institute. Wehmer-Callahan’s research interests are centered around issues in identity, including professional identity development, reflexive writing practices, and organizational identity.

Wehmer-Callahan earned a Master of Arts in TESOL (Southern Illinois University Edwardsville), undergraduate degrees and certifications in speech and language pathology, audiology, linguistics, and military science (Southern Illinois University Edwardsville), and she is currently at the dissertation stage of earning a Ph.D. in applied linguistics and composition (Indiana University of Pennsylvania).
